While the majority of us #eventprofs are sipping on our caffeine-based drinks this fine Monday morning (wishing we were still in bed), there are around 50,000 who I imagine, feel a lot worse than we do.
These 50,000 music fans descended on Robin Hill Country Park in the Isle of Wight over the weekend, to celebrate the 12th annual festival, Bestival, with a theme of ‘Summer of Love’.
From 10 to 13 September, Bestival offered festival-goers more than 25 stages and eight fields, filled with non-stop parties and 24-hour escapism. So it’s no surprise some of them might be feeling a little worse for fear (and covered in glitter).
Stage acts included:
The Chemical Brothers / Underworld / Duran Duran / The Jacksons / Reggaerobics / Jurassic 5 / Little Dragon / Kate Tempest / Jamie xx (Live) / Future Islands / Level 42 / Young Fathers / Flight Facilities / Shura / George the Poet / Dean Blunt / Snap! / The Crazy World of Arthur Brown / Mr Wilson’s Second Liners /The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band.
Annie Mac / Lily Allen presents FUNLORD / Seth Troxler / Tale of Us / Hannah Wants / Four Tet / Black Butter Presents… / Madlib / Jackmaster / Joy Orbison / Ben UFO / Guy Gerber / David Rodigan MBE presents Ram Jam / Erol Alkan / Mike Skinner presents Tonga.
Famous for its eccentric events and attractions, one of the areas – The Amphitheatre, nestled under a canopy of trees, was home to a host of eclectic treats including comedy theatre, short plays, “mind-expanding musings” and hotly-tipped sketch shows. Bestival also featured a fake wedding ceremony hosted in an inflatable chapel, which couples paid £45 to take part in.
For those who didn’t attend the fun-fest, or for those who want a gentle reminder of the event, here’s a little sneak peak of the best bits…
