From watching a movie on your tablet, to unlocking a hotel door with your wristband, technology is fast becoming a key part of our daily lives – often without us even realising.
In the events industry, we’re finding that technology plays a crucial role in how smooth an event can run, from pre, during and after – whether it’s festivals, conferences, shows, concerts, experiential events, corporate hospitality or brand activation.
Leading international blog for meeting and event planners, the Event Manager Blog (EventMB), has taken a step forward not only to highlight but also encourage this passion for event technology, with the launch of the Event Technology Awards.
“There are numerous awards out there but the idea behind the Event Technology of The Year award was to create something that our readers will engage with and provide tech companies of every size a chance to showcase their achievements via our platform. Event Manager Blog has been passionate about event tech since 2007 and we know that our readers value our expertise in this sector; it is a natural evolution for our community.
We are looking for just one winner – difficult I know, but the concept is to truly find something exceptional and give real recognition to an event tech company that has made a real difference to meetings and events experiences. Our panel of judges is passionate about event tech and we believe is well positioned to evaluate entries from a variety of companies to filter out the truly distinguished products.”
Designed to recognise just one event technology as ‘the best of the best’, the award is open to all types of event technology, regardless of size of organisation or experience. Startups and multi-million dollar companies will be judged on the same grounds.
It will be awarded to the company that best meets the following key criteria: innovation; user adoption; user experience, and commitment to the community.

The award will be announced just after the end of the second day of IMEX America, on 14 October at the Palazzo in Las Vegas. The event will be invite-only and 10 lucky readers will get a chance to win a golden ticket to attend.
Pioneered by EventMB founder Julius Solaris, the award will be judged by an expert panel of experienced industry professionals, including:

Entry is open now at www.eventtechoftheyear.com with an entry deadline of 14 July.
All entries to the Event Technology of the Year Award will get significant profile opportunities via the EventMB blog, including their video pitch in the Reader’s Choice Award section, a showcase in the weekly spotlight blog and a participant badge for use in marketing.
